Hi, I'm considering updating my Yamaha DSPA2. Is the Denon AVR-3802 the best Receiver I can buy for under £1000? I'm looking for DSP II and all the new 6.1 and 7.1 systems.

Also, can anybody give me an idea what I might be able to get for the Yammie?

Finally, where is the cheapest place I can buy a Denon?

Thanks

Hi

The 3802 is excellent but so is the DSPA2, not sure if you´ll see a huge difference (if any) when comparing 5.1 movies. The 3802 does have PL2 and most of the latest formats though. Internet prices range from around 650 to 800.

The DSPA2 can be got second hand from between 200-400 depending on condition etc.

Just a thought, but Denon have now released the specs for the 3803 which looks very impressive (see thread posted by Reiner in this Forum). Might be worth hanging on for that instead.:)

Thanks Jase, It does look good and it'll match my THX speakers a treat! Do we know the price yet? I've a feeling it's going to be more expensive than the 3802!
