I am about to upgrade my system and I am looking for the most sensible / sound effective path.

    Currently
    Arcam DV88Plus
    Rotel RC 990 BX Preamp
Rotel RB 980 BX (2) 1 Amp per speaker
Polk Audio Monitor 10 Series 2

I am considering replacing the Preamp with a Arcam AVP 700. Would this adversly affect the sound perfomance?

Are the Rotel RB980 capable enough to convert the potential of the AVP 700?
    How about the Polk Audio?

Complex question, hope somebody has some advise

Are you looking to include additional speakers? If not there are (much) better 2 channel pre-amps for the money, which is in no way a knock at the Arcam.
