Hello,

I currently have a Pioneer LX-82, A great amp but it lacks HDMI v1.4.
I have hooked up to it some Monitor Audio silver speakers in 5.1.

I have a Panasonic TX-P50VT30B (2011 model)
But looking to upgrade to 4k in the future.

FRONTS:
Monitor Audio Silver 8
Nominal Impedance 4 Ohms
Recommended Amplifier Requirements (RMS) 80 - 200W
Silver 8 | Monitor Audio

CENTER:
Monitor Audio Silver Centre
Nominal Impedance 8 Ohms
Recommended Amplifier Requirements (RMS) 60-150W
Silver Centre | Monitor Audio

BACK/SIDE:
Monitor Audio Silver FX
Nominal Impedance 8 Ohms
Recommended Amplifier Requirements (RMS) 40-85W
Silver FX | Monitor Audio

BASE:
Monitor Audio Silver W12 (built in amp)
Amplifier Power Output 500W Continuous
Silver W12 | Monitor Audio

REASON FOR UPGRADE:
HDMI 1.4 - without it, it's very limiting.
Spotify connect.
Bluetooth.

When I asked a reseller store they advised to look at the following amps for what I needed.

The AMP would also double up as my music system. And I like the "as near as possible" hifi experience from amps.

Would these units be future proof for at least a good 3-4 years?
I had the issue that when I bought the Pioneer LX-82 hdmi 1.4 was launched not to long afterwards.
Was a bit gutted.

I was wondering if anyone can help me pick.

Any help and advice appreciated!

What's your budget? Do you absolutely need Bluetooth/Spotify? Are you interested in films or music more? or both?

Hi,

I'd really like Bluetooth.. I know it's a little wasted (sound quality) when connecting an Astell and Kern AK240 via Bluetooth but I have allot of music on it and like to hook it up via bluetooth.
Spotify connect... this is a must really.

I'm interested in both films and music.

max budget is 2k (GBP)

EDIT:
I'd also like to see any options without Spotify connect/bluetooth.
Just to see what the comparisons are.

Given the recent reviews on AVRs should give you an idea. the Anthem MRX 710 is awarded reference status in pure audio terms.

Other than the Anthem, for music though, the recent review suggested it should be the Marantz 7009.

With the greatest respect, using AK via bluetooth is like getting into a Ferrari then load it onto a flatbed truck.

Easier to use a smarphone. Any smartphone.

but I digress.

Specs for HDMI 2.2 not finalised. But the should all allow 4k passthrough. the latest Jap receivers also come with Dolby Atmos and Auro 3D upgrades. Might be something worth considering.

But at 1k, i think you can't go wrong with a 7009. Otherwise, get a power amp, then the Anthem MRX 310. the AVR will go out of date but not the power amp.

Hi,

HDMI 2.2. Is this expected in the near future or is it a way off yet. Or is it unknown?

I would go with an Anthem MRX for performance purposes unless you are going to want Dolby Atmos anytime soon.

For Spotify Connect I would add a HEOS Link to the system which will give you full iPad/iPhone control and a lot more music features. You can add a separate Bluetooth dongle as well.
