Check on the TAG website - prices are available there - you just have to key in the spec of your existing machine. Havent checked it in a while but £1500 springs to mind.

You need to go to the hardware upgrades part under the Club section on the website. but here is the price list:

Add Dual Processor Upgrade: GBP 1495
    Add 7.1 Channels: GBP 445
    Add 192kHz DACs already installed
Add 5.1 Analog Bypass(incl. 192kHZ DACs) already installed
Add AC-3 RF Laserdisc Interface GBP 140, usually GBP 160
Add DAB digital radio GBP 595, usually GBP 690
    Add Dolby Headphone GBP 129.95

My, I am feeling helpful today...

I'd be tempted to see how much you could get a new dual pro for then consider selling your existing machine.... it might work out somewhat cheaper

Indeed, this is what i did, i had a 7.1, 192/24 dacs with PL2 + DTS ES but no by-pass, which i sold on this forum for 1600.00 on this forum just after Christmas as i recall, the cost of a new front plate, bypass and dual sharc's was at that time 1900.00 or so, i obtained a new unit for 3600.00 so i was out by only 100.00
When the Tag wobble happened i was able to to buy 3 250mr's very cheaply (55%) and i read of someone here buying a new dual sharc for 2200.00 and a couple of 192's going for less than 4000.00, unfortunately, all those bargains have long since gone, but i was sure i saw an ex-demo D.P unit going for 2995.00 somewhere which i will try and find again.
If you do buy new you will now get the PL2x FOC.

    Regards

    Steven

How much better is the 192/24 DAC over the standard 96/24 dac.
I have just got myself a Tag av32 which has got the 96/24 dac installed wondered about updating it.

    Any advice?

    Cheers

The 192/24 Dacs are supposed to be a bit smoother and more open, but I can't say I noticed a huge difference between my AV32R with 96/24 DACs run at full resolution via a P-Tech Upsampler/Interpolator,and the 192/24 DACs in a current AV32R in ordinary mode.
I would suggest only updating if the ancillaries are good enough to make it worthwhile,or if you're having other parts of the machine updated.

And I would be very interested in your BP192 !!

Actually £3k is the top end of what I would pay for a DS - there was one going on the Tag classifieds for £2900 - may still be there.

It was and is still there, but is an old av32r with the bolt-ons.
I cannot find one anywhere, if i recall correctly it was on the Sevenoaks site.

I think you will very lucky to get one for 3000.00 new now.
If anyone is thinking of buying into or up-grading Tag (and we all know there are plenty of political reasons to not!) then now would be a good time with the impending price hike due shortly.

Steve - I was referring to a second hand / ex demo price. I know they are hard to get hold of now but given they are £4k new surely this is not unreasonable.

On a seperate note, I just saw a second hand AV32R 7.1 go for £845 on ebay and the seller had a strong positive feedback rating !!!!

IF you could buy one for that price (and what a price! normally the av30r's go for around 900.00 there) and it was in good working order then you could up-grade it and have a well specc'ed machine for 2300.00 ish!!

I will keep my eyes open, i tend to scout the normal bargain venues every few days or so and haven't come acroos a Tag bargain for a while now.
The only long standing bargains i can find are a dvd32r for 2300.00 and a pair of 125m's for 980.00.

    Regards

I think the £845 one was an exception rather than the rule - they do go for a lot more normally.

I was looking at 2nd hand tag not so long ago and best i could find was a vanilla av32r for coming upon £1200, in guessing that was a fraction on the high side, but your machine should be worth a good few hundred more.
