Question Upgrade Of Speakers

I recently purchased a Denon AVR X 2500h and working fine. However my speakers are older and what I have is

Yamaha NX E130 speakers

Manual is located at https://www.manualslib...-Ns-P100.html#manual

So I have one center , left and right subwoofer and 2 surround sound speakers. They are working ok for the moment but If I do want to upgrade what would you recommend?

Our room is open plan so we dont want any massive speakers or one that would wake up the neighborhood just something small. May buy them in stages depending on the costs. Wireless ones preferably but if they are more expensive also wired speakers

Now dont want to spend massively maybe build it up over time

Richer sounds suggested the below for front speakers

CAMBRIDGE AUDIO MINX MIN22 White

& the below

MONITOR AUDIO RADIUS 90

And the below for centre

MONITOR AUDIO RADIUS 200

And for subwoofer

MONITOR AUDIO RADIUS 380 Black

Going to do it in stages as dont have the money to buy everything together

So may start with the centre and work on from there. Also would the above cover surround sound?

Cheers

Could you post a picture of your system (front stage), so members can see how you have things setup now. Just cause you are looking to spend good amount of money and some cases it could be more of waste if there is some big compromises in speaker positioning etc.

Did you mean CA Minx Min 22 for surround speakers and Radius 90 + 200 front three? Would make more sense, i think you got the links mixed.

Would you say Radius 90 size is maximum for main speakers and Radius 200 for center channel?

Also no need to buy that Radius sub or any matching sub to speaker brand. There is better options with small footprint around 300-520£. BK XLS200 and SVS SB1000 would be great choices if size is the limiting factor. There could be other choices too, but you are likely buying speakers first..

What I have is open plan room and just a TV stand similar to the below
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Clear-glass-chrome-silver-screens/dp/B00NVL3R5A
So not much room for large speakers and Miss Funkyirishman likes everything neat and tidy and cables behind TV her pet hate esp with Junior running around.

Trying to build them up one by one as dont have the finances to buy them all together so looking for something compact but with a big punch and does not blow the bank

Not many options in Ireland and Richersounds in Belfast best option as long as Border does not reappear (thats for another forum)

I was trying to figure out where your tv is vs. couch, how far you sit from speakers, do you have tv about mid point of wall or in corner (hopefully not). Going with the Dolbys recommendation on speaker placement is highly recommended, when possible.
5.1 Surround Speakers Setup | Dolby Laboratories

I hope you didn´t think about putting all the speakers in ~1m width tv-stand. They would sit too close together and also likely too low. Pair of good looking speaker stands for main speakers or wall mounting them and hiding wires with cable trunking.

Tough to get "big punch" from small speakers, but when partnered with good subwoofer like the BK & SVS - you could achieve enjoyable system.

Couple similar sized/priced popular options:

B&W M1: Bowers & Wilkins M-1 MkII satellite speaker (individual)
Bowers & Wilkins M-1 MkII satellite speaker (pack of 5)

Dali Zensor Pico (also white): DALI ZENSOR PICO Walnut
DALI ZENSOR PICO VOKAL

KEF E305 "Eggs" (should be bought without sub if possible): Kef E305 5.1 Home Theatre Speakers

SVS Prime Satellite

SVS Prime Satellite White Gloss Speakers (Pair) - Satellite / Surround Speakers - AudioVisual Online - UK Home Cinema and Hifi Specialists

Low depth on-wall XTZ Spirit 2 & 6. 30day buy&try at home! White/Black.
XTZ Spirit 2 Matte White (Pair)
XTZ Spirit 6 (C) Matte White

Spirit 2 (L/R) on the left and Spirit 6 (Centre) on the right. Keyholes at rear for easy wall mounting. Taller and wider than Radius 90, but Spirit2 has lower depth. Spirit 6 has same depth as Radius 90/200.

Cheers for that plenty to consider

Small open plan so TV is up against the window on the table with the receiver sitting behind it and the subwoofer in a corner to the right of it.

Couch about 10 feet away give or take.

We also have little junior running around the place and anything new its like a red rag to a bull he would have the speaker pulled down or even eaten :rotfl:

In relation to Surround sound we have 2 speakers on pedestal behind couch(junior just discovered these) but was looking at option to get the full surround sound effect and get 2 more. But where would we put them .....That is the question as Hamlet once thought.

What if we put the speakers behind the TV would the sound be not great if positioned there? We have the receiver there along with wires.Cannot position them at the side of the TV table as this would be seen as a new toy for Junior ;)

So its trying to strike a balance and compromise etc taking all things into consideration.

First world problems eh?

Any suggestions let me know

How about Monitor Audio Radius one so an all in one would that do?

Cheers

Hard to imagine all without picture. No speakers behind tv! Can`t you wall mount the main left and right speakers so that the speakers tweeter would be about seated ear height? They would be where the junior isn´t able to reach likely and something which is on wall vs. stands i think it interest less. Also as i linked the wires can be hidden easily with the covers, lot different ones to choose from to suite decor. There is sticker on backside so easy clean install. You can google some pictures how people have done it.

Certainly Radius One is option as a passive soundbar, but it would still go on top of that tv table. Another option in the Radius line would be to use 3x Radius 225 as LCR. You could wall mount the main ones and center channel would go in front of tv on the "tv table", assuming it has decent height. Or top of tv on wall, but likely too high and can´t angle it.

With Radius One you have one cabinet with 3 + 3 drivers. With Radius 225 you would get the main speakers more apart from each other which will have dramatic effect, also you would gain extra drivers -> better overall sound & performance!

Here is picture of three Radius 225. Black, White, Walnut. Depth 65mm only!

Normally 275£/each, but there seems to be one cheaper new white one for low price! Click view 3 other options to see more colours. While these are slim they still have (dual 4" C-CAM) same drivers than in Radius 90/270 models and vented cabinets so they should perform quite decently. Flush against wall with two screws.

I don`t really know any other option if sturdy speaker stands with blutack under speakers / heavy floorstanding speakers are out of picture. All i can think of as alternative is to buy wider about 2meter wide tv-cabinet which is also higher about 60-70cm so you can put all your speakers there as widely as possible out of reach from kid. Then you could either wall mount your tv or put some riser under it to raise it up. This is if wall mounting speakers is problem and you can`t have stands on floor either.

You can do more compromises with surround speakers and have smaller ones pointed down from higher if it comes to that (out of reach from kid). But i would first worry about the front three and what is the best way to go in your room.

Tell me your thoughts what is possible.

Below is my set up

IMG-20190319-081029

As you can we are very limited. The speakers I have are on the TV table and the woofer is to the right of this picture beside baby changing table in a corner. So I went with the Monitor Audio Radius One from Audiovisual you supplied in the link thanks.

Plan is to use these for the time been and then later if we move to bigger house look at upgrading then. I have the Yamaha NX E130 speakers on the stand and then 2 behind us on pedestals. We have the Denon AVR-X 2500h behind the TV and

As you can see there are wires that need to be tidied up with the hiding wires and table trunking as you posted above

So it’s trying to make the best of what we can

Any other suggestions please let me know than I can work on settings for the TV, Denon and Nvidia Shield

Yeah mate i think you made the right call with the tv in corner and that price is very low for quality product, i assume you don´t have any problems to get money back from it when you upgrade to something better in new house. Try to get the Radius One in front of your tv in the front edge there. If it comes with rubber pads, use them under the speakers. If the speakers would be blocking the picture use your imagination and raise the tv by putting something under the feets, but DO NOT put it where the small Yamaha speakers are now shooting your feets. They must sound terrible sitting so low. :( Basically you should aim to have the speakers around seated ear height. There is always option to angle it shooting more upwards if needed.

You will connect the Radius One just like normal speakers and run Audussey setup afterwards with the mic (+cardboard stand) placed at your main seating position first, make room as silent as possible and get away from mic while it runs (follow the on-screen setup). Radius One has 3sets of binding posts so nothing special, just make sure you connect the wires right. If the Yamaha speakers came with some super thin garbage speaker wire like they usually does, you could (should) buy something little bit better. For pocket money you can buy 10meter roll or if you can measure the total need carefully, then you can order just the amount you need in meters.

Ok got the speakers and what do you know my TV stand is not big enough for the speaker so need a new one

Looking at this one L100cm. W46cm. H51cm

Black Glass Tv Stand Large For Sale in Swords, Dublin from conorlinnane

Dismantle it and make the top shelf larger than the bottom one

Would you think this would be sufficient size as nearly double + price in shops

Have to put a 55" TV also on top and its one of the TVs I cannot raise the stand so have to put in on the tv stand
