Question Upgrade GPU or CPU/MOBO

Hi folks,

I have the itch for an upgrade. I generally play via my PC hooked up to my 4K TV, tending to play at 1440 60fps.

That said, I do play quite lot of strategy games (Planet Coaster being a favourite).

RDR 2 is coming out and I would LOVE to be able to play 4k 60fps (though would satisfy for 1440).

My question is: do I upgrade the GPU or CPU/MOBO?

I currently have a 1080 GTX, an i7 6700 cpu and an Asus Z170M Mobo.

I'm either considering going for a 2080 (or is the Ti worth the extra) OR going for an Asus STRIX Z390 and i7-9700K.

What do you reckon?

Agree with Eddy555 - for 4K play really only the 2080 GPU is up to this at present regardless of any other hardware (CPU) so that would be needed to start with. Personally I am not sure how much of a leap going from 1400 to 4K is for the large investment it costs. Also what refresh rate is your TV, getting a 1440 monitor with 144+ refresh could make things better if your tv is limited to 60fps only.

Also if your TV is 8 bit HDR and not 10 bit HDR, you'll be missing out

Get the GTX 2070 Super

Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8GB GAMING OC 3X Turing Graphics Card

Its 2 FPS behind the 2080 and best card for money currently
