I got hold of one of these a couple of years ago for £350 (RRP of £650 at the time), but I'm hankering after ES/EX and DPLII.

If I was going to upgrade for the extra features, but I was unwilling to accept inferior performance approximately how much would I have to spend, and on what?

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

To get better performance you´d be looking at the Denon 3802 (around 600-800 depending on where you buy).

I went from the Yamaha 795a to the 3801 and got significant improvement musically as well as better surround sound performance.

The 3802 has ES/EX as well as PL2. Great sounding kit for reasonable money.

    cheers
