Hi I currently have a SIM2HT200DM pj,which,I am thinking of upgrading to a widescreen pj with hdmi/dvi,better resolution etc...

Anyway anyone have any recommendations,infocus/themescene etc?

I would be hoping to trade the sim2 in and as such the price would depend on that.

The ThemeScene H78 should definitely be on your hit list.

Are you sure about a Trade In? I doubt there's a big second hand Projector corner in most AV/HiFi Stores and you'll realise more cash if you sell it privately.

The price you paid for your projector is not going to be reflected in its second hand value - good as it is things have moved on a fair old way since the HT200DM was launched.

I'd have thought you could expect £500.00 for a private sale and no idea how much a dealer would offer you on a Trade In.

    Best regards

You should get more than £500 on ebay. An HT200DM went recently for £900.

Are you going for Sim2 again? I would have though a Domino would have been at the top of your list!

Hopefully there's more folk on ebay with £900.00 to spend then!

I would have thought a Digital Input (with HDCP) was essential if you want your next Projector to last through the Analogue to Digital transition we'll go through over the next few years.

    Best regards

I remember you were looking for Denon 2900 a while back. Don't know if you ever got one but the picture via component to a Domino 20 is great. I would have happilly kept mine but a room change meant the throw distance wasn't suitable.

Could not justify the price of the 2900 when HD/DVD is just round the corner:(

Hence the reason for thinking of upgrading the pj.BUT with such little on offer will prob'ly have to keep the 200:(

The Benq 7700 might be a good compromise for an upgrade path for you. It has the new HD2+ chip so is hi-def ready and being a newer pj means its contrast may still be superior to your 200. The only difference may be the image processing which might not be quite a match to the Sim. Hopefully some owner and proffessional reviews will give you an idea if it's viable pj for you or not.

    Hi Phil,

Nothing new other than going with a fixed height variable width 2.35:1 set-up now, and that means I can have a wider screen in my loft, which is nice. :)

I would think the H78 would have better resolution, contrast and black level, and be easily comparable in most other respects such as image processing now.

A good upgrade but would cost over £2500 on top of what you got for the Sim I would think.

    Gary.
