I am looking to upgrade my Sony STRDB1080 to one of the current Denon amps.

One of the reasons for doing this is to get an amp that offers component switching, but I would also like to get a bit of improvement in the audio quality, even though I am happy with the Sony in this regard.

I am guessing that I should be looking at the Denon 2105 as a minimum, or preferably the 2805. Does this sound about right?

Is the component switching good quality on these models?

I certainly have had almost nothing but praise to say about my 2805 - only irritation is that the component switching is so convenient that it is now annoying that my NTL box doesnt go through it - guess I need to get the plastic out and buy an RGB to Component converter

2105 doesnt do component up conversion only to s-video. need 2805 for that.
