Hi everyone sorry if this has already been discussed

I have just upgraded my tv to a samsung LCD HD ready le26r41bd, and I have a concern about my dvd player which is a ronin p807

When I play a dvd through the ronin, the picture is ok, but not brilliant and sometimes the picture changes from light to dark, I was expecting this because my new tv is so powerful but I was wondering if there are any better dvd players, that would make the film look a lot better on my tv
    any recomendations???

or it just could be me asking too much lol

    many thanks

What connections has the new lcd got and whats your budget?

or are you waiting for hd players?

    Obvious choices are
    Toshiba sd350e
    Samsung 850/950
    Philips 5900
    Oppo 971

    regards

personally i would'nt worry about HD players (HD= high definition, new format of very high capacity media, but you'll have to buy your films all over again to take advantage  )

so, scart and a poor dvd player are your problem, get one of the players mentioned above and a decent hdmi cable and you should be sorted :smashin:

afaik there wont be any problems, as long as it's region free (usualy done via remote hack). i don't know much about HDMI but is'nt the copy protection stuff to do with HD-DVD's? to stop pirated versions of them playing?

there's also a problem with upscaling some content i think, but unsure tbh.
