I currently use an A85/P85 combination to drive my CDM7NTs. I now have the opportunity to buy an A22 for the low low price of 250 pounds. It's got a few dings on the front panel according to the seller, and the remote is missing. I have yet to take a look at the thing. The remote is no problem, the dings might be.

When I auditioned the A85 I also listened to the A22. To my ears it sounded a bit smoother, but that was three years ago and I'm not so sure it's such an improvement over the A85. My A85 is in tip-top shape, and I'm hesitant to replace it with a machine with dings on the front panel...

I can't find any reviews of the A22 online anymore. I seem to remember it wasn't received all that well, being basically an Alpha 9 in an FMJ case. Still, it's cheap (I intend to make money on this upgrade by selling the A85 for much more than 250 quid!), and it may still sound better. Any user opinions on the A22 vs A85?

I think I can keep using my P85 to bi-amp with the A22, is that right?

I 'remember' it well, I'm listening to it now :)
But I have never heard the A85

I upgraded from an old ARCAM C200 SA200 pre/power combination, and the difference was amazing.
