I have around a grand to either upgrade from my current Denon 2105 to the 3805 or add power amps to the 2105 and don't know which way to go.
I have a Rotel RB-03 which I have tried with the 2105 on the fronts and found that to be a step in the right direction. In light of this I am wondering if I should add a three cannel amp for the fronts and use the rotel for the rears, look to get a five channel amp or as I said at the start, change to the 3805.
All opinions would be most welcome.

Hmmmm, lots of possibilities. And the 2105 would be a relatively recent purchase.

Are you trying to improve the stereo ability of your system? What problem had you identified in your system that required the 'experiment' of the power amp? What is the rest of your system?

Sorry for the questions, but everyones situation is different. And the power amp upgrade is no a one size fits all.

    Hi Harry T2,

Thank's for the reply. I have two setups at the moment for movies and music. I really want to combine them into one. The music comes through a Quad / Dac20 combo at the moment and I suppose I am trying to match this quality (as close as I can) with the movie setup. I will of course continue to use the Dac for the music.
So this is my main thrust.
Of course, if I end up with some improvement with movie sound I won't be disapointed.

    I would get a GBP1000 integrated amp.

I think the pre-amp section of the 2105 will always be the weak link and will never give the returns you are looking for.

I would strongly recommend that you listen to other integrated in the price range as their a lot of very good amps (and very few bad ones).

LOL, I meant Great British Pound. I was lazy and couldn't be bothered going into word and copying the £ symbol.

Not everyone is located in the "mother country". Some of us are in the "colonies".

(Edit), Thanks, deanym. Beat me to it.

Just being converting euros/dollars and pounds at work!! - still fresh in ma heed.

    No sarcasm was intended!!

By the way, ebay has some Musical fidelity integrated amps for auction. You'd do a hell of a lot worse for two channel.

Does that mean you no longer use pounds?
About time you start using a PROPER currency
Does it mean I have to find the bl**dy Euro symbol now? :thumbsdow

Anyway, is the budget 1000 Great British Pounds or 1000 Euro?

It's £1,000 of our English pounds.

At the risk of sounding like a Pr**t again. Harry, Why can't you use shift 3 for the £ sign?

Think we are getting way of topic :D

But the Shift 3 is the # on my keyboard. The shortcut in Word is something like Alt 0163. I think I would need to go into Windows and change by setting from English - Australian to something else.

I'd go with the power amp option. 2nd hand if you are not adverse to such things.
