Hi all,

I've just recived a reply from Rotel UK about an enquiry i made.
Basically i'm looking to replace the black fascia and red LED's of my 1075 with the newer silver fascia and blue LED's.

This is the reply...

Dear Peter

It is something we are trying to offer in the UK, however obtaining the parts is proving difficult as all components that they manufacture are being built for new product. We have requested stock, however as off today we have not received a time frame. I would suggest you contact us again in about 6-8 weeks.

Regards

Rotel UK

Just thought there might be some other 1075 owners that want to do this as well.

Cheers :hiya:

OK, Stephen Baker at B&W has been kindly chasing this up for me.
Here's his latest mail.

The price quoted of £90 is just for the centre piece and all the small parts required to change them over, however it has been stressed by a number of people, that it is not straight-forward to do. If you wish to proceed, order time is about three weeks. I will require name, address and serial number of your unit.

@ £90  it's a no go for me. I'm going to buy some silver paint, inkjet decal paper and blue led's and DIY the job. I need all these to finish the PPA headphone amp i've just built so it's no hardship.

If anyone wants to use the genuine Rotel parts Stephen can be contacted at [email protected]

Cheers

mmmmm...at £90 i think i'll leave it! Bit steep that, you could change the LED's for a fraction of this!

DIY mod here i come!!

Warranty runs out on my unit soon anyway, 10 months out of the 36 month warranty left.

The worlds gone mad!!!

Fancy a new "this year's" shell for last years Ford Focus while you're at it? Surely any modification would make your amp less desireable when reselling?

This is HT Beautox... AV Cosmetic surgery!!!!

My 1075 will be going in about 4 weeks time, I can just imagine what people will think if a state "I soldered some different colour LEDs in it" in my advert,

Personally I prefer all black, but [TONGUE-IN-CHEEK ON]I do understand that blue LEDs sound better than red ones [TONGUE-IN-CHEEK OFF]

Are you all crazy??!

Mark.

RMB 1075s were available in either silver or black. As far as I know, the silver has not replaced the black model. When I bought one last year, I was offerd a choice and chose black ;).

No, what they are saying is the now the Black model has a Silver strip centre section. I personally think its looks awful, but some want their older finish "all-black with Red LEDs" to look like the newer "Black & Silver with Blue LEDs".

Whatever they do it's a damned fine amp, I can't see why people would risk damaging it to make it look younger.

I'm going actives, but am still having trouble parting with my 1075. I just know I'll find a use for it in another room 2 days after flogging it.

The best value for money 5 Channel amp there is IMHO.

Without a doubt.

The possibility of becoming unemployed has forced me to think about selling the home cinema, but i'll be keeping the 1075 for bi amping duties in a 2 channel music setup. you'd have to prise it out of my dead hands :D .

Cheers
Pete

That's the one they call silver ;). I was offered a choice of that or all black. To the best of my knowledge they still offer both.

Edit: Just phoned my dealer. Both models still available, all black with red LEDs or black with silver centre and blue LEDs. Kits are available to convert one to the other from dealers.

You obviously have far too much time on your hands! As....it would appear... do I!

If I fit a Blue LED an old Yamaha Sub I have lying around will it become a Velodyne?

I'll just have to agree to disagree on home grown cosmetic changes to kit, of course my kit isn't in my living room.

I made my Sony 700 into a Tag DVD32R simply by writing Tag Mclaren on the front with a felt tip. The improvement in sound was stunning. I have yet to change the LED's so I hope for a further improvement then.
I'll remember that if I ever see you selling a TagDVD32R on the Forum!
