Couple of months ago I got a replacement Pace Sky+ box from Sky. Last night I tried putting in my Samsung SP1604N HDD. I plugged the box back in to the mains after putting it in; waited 5 minutes, then tried to turn it on, & nothing! The power light just stayed red & occasionally would blink. I then put the original Seagate drive back, & it was all back to normal.

The only thing I can think of is that the samsung drive has previously been in my old Amstrad, so perhaps it needs reformatting in a pc, or something.

Any ideas anyone?

T.

Are the jumpers for drive selection set to cable select?

Maybe it's trying to draw too much power on startup?

Yes, jumpers were correct.

Yes, did occur to me. I'm just thankful it still works with the original.

SP1604N should be OK. I've got one in my Pace V1, been working fine since Christmas. Have you tried the HDD in a PC yet?

Maybe your old Amstrad killed the disk?

Possibly. The Amstrad had broken down, hence the Pace.
