Very nice, and it makes mine look amateur.

How do you get the edging on all the pictures - I particularly like that.

the edging is done backwards to how i should do it :)

ive added a white filled layer to the image and then using the eraser tool ive cut out the centre portion using an feathered edge brush, ive then merged it down onto the image

i considered doing it by just brushing lines down the edge but using straight lines would mean that every image had the same image and it didnt look like randomly torn paper edges :)

About... talks about some 3rd person called Jay... then signs it Jay. reads a bit strange.

'Torn paper edges' comment is totally confusing me - I don't see any. 'Portfolio' opens simpleviewer and i see images with plain (straight) white frames?

I have looked at your site a while back. To be honest I don't see the difference

edit:just read your first post again - just the pictures changed

Until I read Seanys' comment I never even noticed the black descriptions on the red background.

i think the site may be cached on your computer robert, all the image files have edges around them on the actual image border ala http://www.whitewashimages.co.uk/junk/jljlive.jpg

yeh the black writing on the red is a pain, its actually in the flash file so i need to edit the flash to make them bold white, but i havent got a copy of flashmx at the moment to actually edit it :thumbsdow

You might want to put an index.htm in your junk folder to stop people rummaging around in it :rotfl:

Your link to single picture does not work - it should be http://www.whitewashimages.co.uk/junk/jellyslive.jpg :D

I have deleted my temporary internet files, forced the page to reload with ctrl-F5... and still see only plain straight white picture frames. Nothing like the feathered edge on the direct picture link.

maybe ntl has your site cached ? beats me!

seems it, all the images are edged before uploading rather than by the gallery,

which galleries do you see? there should be three galleries in the music section, and two portfolios of landscape and portrait work

im not too bothered about the junk folder, its only full of more images

what you have just said makes no sense to me!

ntl MUST be caching your entire old site. on your homepage i see about - latest - portfolio - contact - links.

portfolio leads to one portfolio only 'a rough portfolio'

anyone know how to force a tranparent proxy to reload a web page? I thought ctrl-F5 did it ...obviously not.

    that works :)

sand lizard picture caught my eye... somehow the border seems to spoil that one.

Your pictures all have a 'arty' processing applied. Probably the right thing for what you are doing but I prefer looking at more natural images.

yeh the lizard isnt a great picture, it was taken with a crappy olympus camera which i had to extract from my bag, turn on and then take a picture before it scuttled off into the undergrowth. for some reason it needed the quality turned down alot to actually make it fit a webfriendly size.

i know what you mean, im prefer to make things look better rather than stick with the actual reality of things... photoshop is my friend :D

I like the website, the red background and graffiti type graphics are easy on the eye, and the navigation is easy..and some great photo's...all in all, a pretty cool website, and like seany, I like the jellys last jam shots, but my favourite is Tyred out it would make a great poster.

Heh heh - another Simpleviewer user!

I'm not a great fan of the effect on the links from your homepage - too busy for my taste, but thats just my preference...

Had you thought of having links to the different parts of your portfolio on the main page? It'll save repeat visitors going through another click...

Aside from those minor points,

For what its worth I've recently updated mine too...

    nice site alister,.

i understand what you mean about repeat visitors, however what im trying to inforce on people is that this is the work of a person, and the page of links to the various bits mean that people look further than what they want to see, and maybe explore a bit further.

love some of the ice hotel pictures, somewhere i reallly want to go
