      No hdmi 2.1 2019 then?

It seems from all of the posts that the tvs will have improved black, amazing viewing angles, but other than that nothing has changed compred to the q9fn from 2018. It uses the same black elite filter, has the same input lag and not much improvement in regard off over all picture quality.

What do you think? Is this years 2019 models a more half step? I have also read that LG has not improved their picture quality of there OLEDs much in the hardware side, but allot in the software side.

Does these different indications point towards 2020 as the year of a bigger and stronger pump in picture quality?

For me, i would have upgraded in a hearbeat if it had hdmi 2.1 and improved BLACK ELITE filter. I have the tv right by the window, with the light ruening allot.

2019 TVs previews = Smoke and Mirrors.
There will some incremental upgrade to picture quality as always but only time will tell if it's good enough to entice the common folks.

As a consumer, I prefer to see a good alternative to Dolby Vision to exist rather than not. HDR10+ is an open source format while DV is a proprietory product and of course the costs will be passed down to consumers. Moreover, healthy competition should always be welcomed. Besides, I'm yet to see improvements that DV brings over standard HDR to make me want to pay the extra cost. So personally, I'm not bothered if a movie I'm about to watch has DV or not. As long as it has HDR, that's fine by me.

So well done Samsung on sticking to HDR10+!

@Phil Hinton many thanks for the info on Samsungs New Line Up.

Yes competition is healthy in the Consumer Market and most welcomed. But it does feel Samsung are leaving themselves out in cold a little with their reticence in implementing Dolby Vision into their Products. Its all a personal choice, of course it is...but for me No DV No Sale. Dolby Vision is gaining more traction as Phil says.

At the very least I'd like them to introduce Dolby Armos.

Luckily I bought a TV last year, so in 4 or 5 years time when I upgrade all this Dolby Vision and HDR10+ nonsense will be sorted out.

There's still no confirmation about 2.1, but I'm sure samsung know people out there what it, and probably will offer an upgradable one connect box

Agreed and not arguing the point, but I was rather pointing out the fact that Panasonic and Philips offer both (DV & HDR10+) standards on their 2019 sets and it would have been nice for Samsung to also offer the consumer the choice of both. I also made the point recently that it would be great if LG offered HDR10+ on their TVs this year and then most of the majors will offer the consumers both standards in one device, which I think would be the ideal solution.

Waiting on more technical details coming from Samsung UK as the European launch event is tomorrow. The US is apparently early with the launch details.

      Hi,
I read yesterday in some articles that Samsung will offer a 55 inches in 8k but I do not see 55 inches nor in 8k or 4k in the series Q9 2019!
do you have an idea ?
      thank you.

I'm waiting for UK specific details, but looking at what has been announced so far the 8K starts at 65" (I've already reviewed it) as does the Q90R, so no 55" at launch anyway.

These are sizes for US only, last year the US didn't get a 55" size in the Q9 but Europe did so hopefully the Q90 gets a 55" size for the UK. 8k I'm not sure.

If someone spots any details on the framerate range and supported resolutions for VRR on the 2019 samsungs, please can y9ou post it here.

The Q9FN only supported up to 1440p resolution, hoping the 2019 model can actually do 4K in VRR

I dont think it will be long before LG can get a 55" OLED under £1000 or even less, this will decimate LCD sales, Samsung are still trying to compete in a Market with an inferior product sold at too high a price.

It's where you have babysit like a two year old child lol. Then again burn in risk isn't the issues with oleds. Both techs have strength and weakness,.

pretty sure any TV would have a problem being fed baby food instead of electricity.

yeah the OLED VS LCD is subjective for sure but I still cant help feeling LCD's are too expensive for what they are.

FALD isn't cheap to produce, when you add VA panel QD, the price goes up. I'm more than happy to send more money on good FALD if it's done right. Anyway looking forward to more details tomorrow

yeah understandable, its something you have to be aware of but you have to really abuse it to get burn in, had mine for 3 years now and my screen is totally clear of issues.

I'd be more worried about built in obsolescence, AMAZON seems to no longer support HDR on my EF950v, they wont admit it but HDR hasnt been available for months since they updated the Amazon app to Prime Video.

@Goldorak - are you getting this one this time around or are we too entrenched in the OLED world? I can't be bothered looking at another QLED device, unless they have finally solved the dirty-screen-effect thing.
