Ok need a question answered. i have a hd-a20 and want to have it connected to the net for updates and features but is it possible to plug the ethernet cable from the hd-a20 to my laptop because my laptop is part of my media center and i have a draft n router in another room. so basicly can my laptop be used as a bridge/gameing adaptor seeings it is always connected on-line.

    Thanks

Hope ya get what im trying to say

You will need a X-over RJ45 patch cord to connect the two together.
The X-over cable connects the receive pairs to the transmit pairs of each device. Then you will need to setup the IP addresses on both ends with a subnet, default gateway etc. The next thing to do is to setup the internet sharing on the laptop.

    All a bit complicated
This is OK for features, but maybe a bit risky for an update.
Since you have the American version, why don't you download the CD image on the US toshiba website, burn it to disk, and upgrade the firmware that way.
