Is there anywhere we can find out what programmes are going to be in dd5.1?
Sadly not. I did contact the BBC some years ago and got the brush off. Channel 5 flags all Channel 5 -HD broadcasts on satellite as 5.1, but it's a lie. Strictly Come Dancing current series Saturday night strictly is DD 2.0. Suspect Ofcom might have to intevrene, good luck with that at very few have thekit to notice, Most are happy to watch (rather listen) on flat screen TV's with minute speakers.
One thing is certain ITV 1 HD is never in 5.1.
Thanks . In the short term I've new kit and want to ensure I've setup correctly to get 5.1 should there be 5.1 so need to know what is in dd tonight if poss?
If you are lucky a CH 4 HD movie might be. Not sure if anything on BBC 1/2 HD is 5.1 at the moment. After Bargain Hunt I will check some recordings for you.
Blue Planet 2 is 5.1.
If in England, weekdays at 18.30-19.00 the BBC One HD channel plays 5.1 trailers after the red screen <switch to your local news> slate. The other three Nations have their own news on the HD channel in that slot.
C4HD usually shows films with 5.1 audio, as was Electric Dreams recently. The BBC has Match Of The Day on Saturdays is in surround on BBC1, same with some films too. As mentioned previously, Blue Planet II is also in 5.1. Pretty rubbish that so long after multi-channel audio surfaced our main FTA HD offerings are still largely in 2.0 on both Freeview and Freesat. With that level of innovation, don't go holding your breath for FTA 4K/UHD stuff .....
