"Up in the air" Anyone seen it?

Going to the cinema with the girlfriend on Saturday.

Am considering either "Up in the air" or "Book of Eli".

I would normally choose the latter but acoording to reviews and alot of people on here it is average. On the other hand, most reviews give Clooneys new movie a big thumbs up. Couldnt find any discussion on this forum about it though.

So has anyone seen it and would you recommend it?

Thanks

I really enjoyed it I would choose this over Eli if you are taking your Girlfriend.

I have seen it. It is OK, nothing special. Good script and George & Vera are good in it. My missus was not that impressed though!

Reminded me a bit of Lost in Translation, with strong characters and script but not the most interesting of stories.

Each to their own, you may well think it is fantastic....... Good luck!

Well if the trailer is anything to go by then its going to be really dull! Really doesn't sell the film at all.

Since when has George CLooney done anything decent except for piggy banking behind famous people like Matt Damon and Brad pitt.

I found it a bit depressing to be honest. It's marketed as a dark comedy, but I saw it more of a drama tbh.

Up In The Air - one of the best films of the last twelve months and, so far, three of the four people in this thread who've seen it thought it was OK at best. Sometimes I despair. :suicide:

despair away my friend :D

Most forum members thought 'The Dark Knight' was one of the best movies of 2008/9, I thought it was trash, I despaired to that one;)

I loved Up in the Air. It struck a chord with me as I remember being made redundant and I thought the feeling of despair was well handled in the movie. As for the earlier post, Book of Eli comes highly recommended. While not as great as The Road, I enjoyed every minute and will certainly buy the Blu ray when it comes out.

Up in the Air 8/10
Book of Eli 9/10
The Road 11/10

I watched it last night and thought it was great for the first hour and then tailed off. I guessed that
Alex had a husband as it would have been a bit cliché if they got together proper, the film just didn't have that 'happy ever after' feel about it

Still worth a watch though and Clooney holds the screen very well. I think it was made on a small budget and shot very quickly which has to be considered when assessing the film, overall
