Unusual Magic Eye Problems

Hi, i recently purchaced a Samsung LE32R74BDX and ever since i have had issues with the magic eye.

If the TV is switched off at the socket the channels change no problem. When the TV is on or instandby on the even numbers work and up button and a few more but the od and down don't work??

I even made a couple of long coax runs and held them at the end of the room well away from the T.V and it did not work until i held the sensor out of the window!

Definately getting some interference from the T.V but any ideas on how to resolve such an issue.

by the way the SKY+ box is a Pace 3100

Some TVs are renowned for causing this sort of interference. The solution is to replace the probably cheap quality coax cable connecting the magic eye with good quality double sheathed satellite coax cable.

Thanks, would that be the whole cable run from the RF 2 out or would it be ok to some of it in as the first 5 meters is buried although it is on the ground floor where the eye works ok.

Your existing RG6 cable should be good enough providing it is genuine RG6 double insulated i.e. with a foil shield either aluminium or copper and a braided wire outer.

The intererence may be entering the magic eye itself. I am assuming you are using a magic eye because you hidden the sky box away inside a cupboard/cabinet.

I have personally never had the problem as I do not own an lcd or plasma TV but have seen reports that the magic eye needs to be at least 3 meters away from the TV as seen on these pages
