A few members have listed in their signatures DVDs that they have bought but not yet watched, just interested in anyone who has bought top games but still not played them for whatever reason.

Currently I have Half Life 2 and Halo 2 sitting on my shelf not even opened! Partly due to GTA San Andreas and partly due to not having enough time of late.

    Anyone similar?

well I got jak 3 on the ps2 for christmas.
I have played some of it, but it becomes so difficult and frustrating in places, that actually playing the game becomes a task rather than an enjoyment. I am about 55% through the game and might not even go back to it.
Ractchet and clank three on the other hand was sitting on my shelf for a week after christmas, but when I did play it I went through it in three days.

damn squiffy, thats alot of games, why do you keep buying them and not hardly playing them, your losing out on alot of money because youll just end up selling them off without properly playing them.

I think I have a few unplayed games at the moment (well 4 if you count the Japanese GT4 but I can't play at the moment).

    Maz Payne 2 (Xbox)
    Deus Ex: Invisible War (Xbox)
    Ninja Gaiden (Xbox)
Pokemon Fire Red (GBA)(still plating Leaf Green and Fire Emblem)
Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within (PS2)
    Far Cry (PC)
    Freelancer (PC)

    Hmmm... more than I thought.

I have approx 250 games (all originals) that I have not touched (XBOX, PS2 and GC). Last game I ever played was Metal Gear 2 and that was some years back. Still buy games to fill up the shelf and to hopefully play them one day.

I also have about 200 PS1 games and about 40 Dreamcast games.

That's a lot of games to be filling your shelfs. Do you ever really imagine you'll play them in the future because surely when the third generation PS2 / second generation X-Box comes out you'll just be more interested in playing this new generation of games. Also, due to the mass production of these games they'll never become collectibe - actually they're just losing value.

Don't get me wrong, it's your perogative and if you enjoy having them on the shelf then that's all well and good (although buying games that you never play just to fill the shelfs is verging on madness). I bet the day will come when you'll decide/have to throw them out to make space for something else.

Squiffy! I see you're a Hearts of Iron fan! Quality game that - me & a mate played it online for ages a while back, then for some reason he stopped being able to load his up. I notice that they are releasing Hearts of Iron 2 this year.

I also bought Victoria - an empire under the sun (also from Paradox) which I played a couple of times but never got into as much. Looks a great game as well but i've never been too inspired to give it another bash recently.

at the moment ive still not got round to playing:

    Metal Gear Solid 2 (PC)
    Hidden & Dangerous Deluxe (PC)
    Fifa 2005 (PC)

also i bought timesplitters 2 the other day for the GC so ive been tearing my hair out trying to complete the levels on that!
Ocarina of Time & Resident Evil 1 both for GC are still doing my head in which is stopping me from playing my other games!

It's an excellent game, but oh my god - what a steep learning curve. I was just about to give up with it when suddenly things started to click.

My most satisfying game so far was playing as Russia and managing to defeat and occupy most of Germany. i WILL get round to playing as Germany sometime, but there are just so many other games to play first.

Whats planned for HOI 2? Hopefully a more intuitive interface!

Yes it was a tricky game to get into I must admit - but was well worth it when you did!

In HOI2 they have revamped the interface and changed the production & research bits. There's a review here and it get's a decent write up so i'll probably dabble! There's an even better review here as well where it get's a 9/10.

Here's yet another review where it get's 91%.

Here's the link if you are interested.

    Oh no-o-o-o.

Don't tempt me. I don't need yet another game to sit on the shelf taunting me for my lack of playing time.

Nathan, I hear what you are saying but games are a passion of mine and plus I fortunately am in a position to be able to afford them. Some people collect stamps, some people collect comics. I collect Movies and Games.

Given my cinema/games room was quite expensive to put together a few £K of games is nothing really.

Furthermore, I never actually pay more than £20 for my games as I am happy to wait till they fall below this level.

Besides my little nephews are always happy to give the games a good test.

Fair enough, as I said if you enjoy it then that's precisely what they're designed for - I bet you're a popular Uncle as well.

Aye tell me about it - As a relative Xbox new boy i've still got Ninja Gaiden, PGR2, Topspin, Chronicles of Riddick, Men of Valor, Halo 2 & XIII sat in my drawer either untouched or only partially finished. I bought a Game Cube not long before my X-Box and have Metroid Prime, Zelda, SMS, F-Zero, MKDD, Eternal Darkness & both Rogue Squadron games all sat there virtually unplayed!

Just to pick 2 games - Ninja Gaiden and Metroid Prime - both have been played for an hour or two tops and both are regarded as very good games on their respective consoles.

I have far too many to list. I've actually stopped buying games now as I just don't have the time to play them. Althought that didn't stop me buying HL2 and Halo...

HOI2 arrived very quickly - got it on Saturday.

So last night at about 8.30pm I installed it on my laptop, so I could pretend to pay attention to the missus while she watched TV. ;) At 11pm I vaguely remember getting a kiss when she went to bed. So I thought to myself I'll just move this army here, see how that battle resolves, and then save & bed. At midnight I had to deal with our four year old who came down for a drink. I'll just finish researching basic machine tools. At 1am I started to really think about saving & going to bed. I'll just finish the conquest of Czechoslovakia.

At about 1.30am I finally did manage to drag myself away.

I can't say the interface is any better. In particular I still don't like how armies are managed. The interface tries its best to put you off playing.

But it still has that addictive "I'll just play until...." quality that classics like Civ, Champman, etc., have.

Oh, back on topic. I've bought four more games in the last week to sit unplayed. Def Jam fight for NY, LOTR The Third Age, Savage battle for Newerth and Singles Flirt up your Life (look it was only £4!).
