Ok my MacBook apparently according to Genius bar needs a new logic board, over £300 to do which I don't have. Has anyone used an unofficial repairer in the Manchester area that would hopefully be cheaper.

Try Stockport Computers, their an Apple Specialist apparently. I've never used them myself but they have quite a few customer testimonials on their website.

    Good Luck!

The big cost with the logic board replacement is more the time in doing the work...(+ slice for apple) I have replaced several logic boards and it is a time consuming, screw intensive job. But having said that very easy.

Have a look on ebay etc to find one and if you can lay out screws and use a small screw driver then do it your self....

Good chance to upgrade the logic board to a newer model :)

The new unibodys are a pain and expensive.

I have used http://www.amsys.co.uk/ before and found them very good.
