Should have bought it pre-modded from a specialist dealer!

On a serious note, there are no built in handset hacks for Sony models, and its usually cheaper to buy such a machine pre-modded via one of the many specialist dealers (even many Sony centers offer this service). If you do a quick search of the handset hacks forums for "sony" you should find more info as to your options (i.e via laptop, PDA, or using a "chipping" company).

Thats a formware update by the look of it,I think they were looking for a multi region hack.

Its a firmware upgrade thats now shipped on all current DAVDZ700s to solve a bug on early production models. It WILL NOT make a DAVDZ700 multiregion....

How can you tell which firmware version you have, so I see whether I need to update it?

Also, will changing the firmware in any way affect the multiregion aspect?
