unlocking phones from abroad

    Thinking of buying a phone of ebay but it is from abroad so the seller says it may need unlocking if it is to be used in the uk. Is this possib;le ? will i be able to use it in the uk or is this just a conn ?

    Depends what network it is, Vodafone is a universal network (can be used in UK + US etc..) such networks as Virgin UK and T-Mobile UK only work, in the UK.. it's worth doing a bit more research first. But otherwise they will need unlocking.

    Many handsets sold on the Continent are not subsidised by the network and are not subject to locks being set. Which handset is it ?
