unlocked but now not reading sim

Hi,

I have bought my friends O2 iPhone, he got it unoffiically unlocked. It worked fine with my orange sim but i couldnt get wifi to work.

I called orange who advised to restore via itunes.

I have done this but now it wont register when my orange sim in it.

Any ideas what to do, seems its gone back to O2 setting as it works with that sim

Unfortunately it is now locked to o2. You'll have to unlock, either unofficially or the PAYG o2 sim route. (or give it back to your friend to unlock it for you!)

He was contracted to O2 cant he go that route so its free?

You can either request an unlock from O2 or run blackra1n to jailbreak followed by blacksn0w to unoficially unlock.
