    Hi,
Does anyone out there know if any of the universal players that play both DVD-A & SACD output a pure DSD stream rather than converting it internally to PCM when playing a SACD?

    Regards
    John

Many universal players (Denon, Marantz and Pioneer Elite among them) will play SACD in native DSD, AS LONG AS YOU DON'T USE THE BASS MANAGEMENT AND (on the rare occasions it's available for SACD) THE SPEAKER DELAY SYSTEMS. Sorry about the "shouting", it's directed at the manufacturers, not you. If you plan to use the player's internal BM/SD settings, in almost all cases it will convert DSD to PCM. If you use one of the few receivers/pre-pros with bass management capability on MCH inputs, you will get a DSD to PCM conversion. If you use an Outlaw ICBM analogue bass management system, you will keep the native DSD stream.
