Hi, I have been think about upgrading my Sony 735 for some while. Looking at reviews, thinking about DVD-A and SACD.

It seems to me that a Universal Player is the way forward.

    My setup includes:
    Linn Mimik CD Player (excellent)
    Denon AVC-A11SR (Great)
Mission 753 front, 75C centre, (mission surrounds)
    M&K K9 Sub
    Panny Sky box and VCR.

Just bought Dark Side of the Moon SACD and my Linn wont play it. Sony 735 will but it sounds crap on that.

The Linn is such a great CD player, and I will keep it as it cost £800 8 years ago. However I would want a Universal Player to play DVD-A and SACD to at least the same level as the Linn and improve on DVD V playback over the Sony.

Finally DVD must be multi region.

Looked at reviews for the following
Pioneer 757i (at the price can it sound any good?)
Marantz Universal player (looks good is it multiregion?)
    New Denon 2900 (sounds promising)
Linn UniDisk 1.1 (Not sure if I have got £5000 to £7000 to spend :( )

Has anybody had demos or loans of these players?

Anyone got any good tips for players to look and listen to?

    Thanks.
    Rog

p.s £1500 is probably my upper limit, but may consider more if it really makes a difference

    Hi,

I've had my 757Ai for 3 months now and I'm very pleased with it's performance. I don't think you need to spend £1500 - the 757Ai is available for £600 MR from www.leconcepts.com I'm sure your Linn would beat it on CDs, but the few SACD and DVD-Audio discs I have sound excellent on the 757Ai. See if you can get a demo.

    Steve
