Since building my new stand I have had to move my subwoofer to the side of my room as there is no longer space for it between the front speakers.

The only problem with this is that its ever so slightly in the way ( already knocked two glasses of coke of the table squeezing past bin a hurry )

So, the only other place I can position it is pretty much in the corner of the room, it would be positioned to the left of the front left speaker, in a corner alcove of the room.

Would this dramitically effect the sound ( I know I could just try but to do that I have to dismantle a wardrobe thats there already and so would rather have some idea first )

The sub is a Rel Q100E

    Thanks

    Hi Duncan

Moving a sub just a few inches will alter the in-room response.
    Could be better or worse.
    One way to find out.

    Start dismantling :)

    Cheers

    BUGGER !!! :D

I know moving can effect the performance, again :( as it was great in its old position.

Ill dismantle and see what happens, at very worst ill get some more light in the room !

What would happen if you had found a good spot for your sub in terms of in room response but then changed the actual subwoofer. Would you get a different set of results or would that certain spot be the best place for any subwoofer???

I've read in What Hi-Fi that if you plave your subwoofer in the middle of your room and walk round it and the the place where it sounds the best is where you should put it.

You would expect to move the subwoofer round but nope, they say to keep it in the middle and walk round.

Whether this actaully works or not is open for debate I guess.

What they mean is to position the sub in the place that you would normally sit then walk around the room to see where it sounds best which will be the ideal place to put it.
