...not an audiophile by any means, however I am passionate about music and would like to create and immersive sound for my music and games console

i have an sr 5400 with some mission m70s.....a 50 quid after thought, pluss a cambridge audio CD 36 (you can guess where I bought it), The CD Player hums a bit but other than that is fine for its occaisional use - since most of music is now from my computer.

it might sound like an odd system , but mission control isnt large. (ok, other people would call it the spare room). I bought the sr5400 for its flexibility.' I may deploy it elsewherer in future.

In the meantime.... i want mission control to be more filled with sound. I actually have a lovely revealing image (if bass-less) with the missions - but it sounds very directional and "from' a source you could point at"....make sense' ??

thanks to the marantz...i have a bunch of options open...' so :

    - move the m70s to become rears and spend more on a hot stereo pair ?
    - retire them downstairs and buy a hot stereo pair
    - buy a small 5.1 / 6.1 set - KEF eggs ? M-Cubes ?
    - buy a large 5.1 / 6.1 set
    - all of the above
    - none. of the above

money of course, is simply not an object. :rotfl:

at least it wont be once the existing stuff is paid for.

    This forum should be fine.

I think you need to be looking at new speakers which are better at creating a soundstage. Also make sure that you're listening in stereo rather than the multitude of surround options - assuming you do only have the pair of speakers and no centre/rear to think about. :)
