The special 2-disc vista series edition of Unbreakable (R1) .... what on earth were they thinking with the disk holders? The disks are almost welded to the trays

The 'teeth' do not give in any way, shape or form so I found it difficult to remove the disks without fear of the disks cracking.

Only after much patience and frustration, and only after I had already broken one tooth (not my own) in the hope that it might loosen the disk somewhat, I finally managed to get the disks out :(

I don't fancy fiddling about for 15 mins everytime I want to watch this  And I also think it's likely that the disks will eventually crack :(

What a stupid, stupid, stupid design

Now I have to buy a spare case to store the disks in :(

The same goes for Harry Potter R1. I've repackaged mine into a double amaray-style case.

I would agree with that McMull...

I must have been ****ed when I bought my copy. Can't remember fighting to get the disk out though.

Fortuneatly my friendly Woolworths exchanged it for me.

    Superb Movie.

Well worth fiddling about with for 15 mins. to watch.

Don't think mine was quite as tricky to access mind.

There was no problem with mine either. I love all the Vista Series and am looking forward to Pearl Harbour next month. ;)

I have found that with this type of case it is difficult to get the disc out the first time but not after that,I have checked and I haven't broken any teeth off the holder.
I had always though it to be some clever design to keep the disc safe in the first place during transit!

I tried taking it out a couple of times after the first time. Was not much easier :(

I ordered the 2 disc special edition version from Futureent.com. I don't know if this is a different version to you guys who have had no trouble... It comes in a cardboard sleeve and then you take out the inside case (also cardboard), which opens out to reveal 2 discs, a booklet, poster etc. (A bit like the 2 disc Memento special ed.)......

I love this film, and the Vista series.Great Packaging, well presented, great sound and picture.I,ve searched in the past for more info on the series but have not found any.
I understand they are Buena Vista/Disney associated,is that it?
I have only seen four films(Unbreakable,Tombstone,Sixth sense and Pearl Harbor) are there more?

To my knowledge these are the only ones. Hopefully more will come as IMO they are the best DVDs yet released (Criterion aside) ;)

damtom - is there something wrong with your keyboard as instead of ' you are typing , :)

I also have Unbreakable, Tombstone, and Sixth sense Vistas and love them all - great films and superb presentation (no problems getting the discs out for me either). Pearly Harbour is next and I'll never, ever buy that but there are rumours of Who Framed Roger Rabbit getting the treatment at some point and I'll certainly consider that.......

    It's starting to loosen! :D

There seems to be a 'trick' to getting the disk out as well. Works best when you get your fingers under the top two grooves.

I might sand down the teeth a little bit later with some sandpaper - see if that helps it further

Try enlarging the hole in the DVD with a masonry drill, works for me. If you overdo it then a spot of blue tack will hold it in place.

My R1 T2 in the tin case is also difficult to pull out. Can't imagine bending the disk is good for it:eek:

Just have to be careful but it doesn't get any easier.

    Oh dear....difficult to pull out......doesn't get easier....fnar fnar!

It's not. After a while the disk will surely crack from the tension. I had that happen to me with the last Travis CD. Luckily I'd bought it from Sainsbury's and they were very happy to provide me with another one

Add Magnolia R1 to the list of unopenable DVDs :) I almost snapped it and had to kind of twist the disc to get it out.
