Unable to scan document

    I wanted to scan a receipt but when I try I get the following message even though the printer is connected and prints as normal.The printer isa Brother DCP-J315W and my OS is Windows 7.

    I see you have a HP Deskjet 2450 all in one printer as well, can you scan from this printer?

    Is the Brother connected via USB or wireless ?

    Also have you tried scanning using

    Start→All Programs→Windows Fax and Scan

    instead of the Brother Control Center method?

    If not, try that method to see if the scanner is there and will scan.
