Unable to format DVD in Toshiba RD-XV47KB

After a couple of years of non-use, I got out my Toshiba RD-XV47KB HDD & DVD &VHS Recorder to copy some old VHS tapes onto DVDs for a friend. The videos copy beautifully onto the HDD, but I don't appear to be able to copy to DVD.

According to the manual it should be compatible with DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW, but when I try to record to DVD, from either the HDD or VHS it comes up with an error message that the recording has been stopped because there is a problem with the disc. I'm using Memorex DVD+R 16x 4.7GB 120min.

I'd be grateful for any thoughts and advice - I can't remember if it worked previously or not.

Thanks

Poor disc quality is the problem.

Try other blanks.

I have used thoseDVDs satisfactorily, but you may have a problem with the settings in the Title. I have had a problem with the recordings on the HDD being marked as”Copy Never”. which I didn’t set.
I have asked but no response as yet on how to edit the Title info.
