    Hi all.

I have a PS2 which I play on, mostly like FPS like MOH and TimeSplitters etc.

Thinking of buying an XBOX to play the legendary HALO etc but need someone to tell me it will be worthwhile he he he

Also any ideas of the best deals....? and should I consider getting an XBOX chipped..? and should it be a physical chip or a software upgrade....?

umm lots of questions but hey ho!

    TIA

check out this thread for current XBox deals

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=104475

If you don't want to play imported games etc then no need to spend the extra on getting the box modded, otherwise if you do, then you will need to get it modded.

X-ecuter 2.3lite is now available from http://www.mrmodchips.com which works with the 1.4/1.5 version of the xbox.

The X-ecuter mod chip IIRC is the biggest selling one I think

I'm not going to go on about how fantastic Halo is. So much has been said already it's a joke.

Thing is.. - it's all true.

For the last month or so, I have nearly bought an Xbox. I currently have a PS2, but a friend of mine recently bought an Xbox and bought Tiger Woods 2004 for it. I have this game for the PS2 and was amazed at the difference between the two. Since then, the appeal has virtually gone for the PS2.

But my question is, and this has stopped me buying an Xbox, is it worth waiting to see what Sony do next? It's been a couple of years now so I would imagine the next playstation will be along soon (with backwards compatibility for PS2 games, I hope).

Does anyone know what is happening with this?

    hiya Zapp. :)

i can't say for definate, but from what i hear 2005/6 is being tooted ask the rough release time for both microsoft and sony's next gen macines. info should be released on both early next year. march time for microsoft and then again in may with sony also speaking of their new system.

i'm hopefully gonna be getting one anyday now [if my finances hold up!] and am buying with the full knowledge that i am not buying into a brand new system that i know has been around for a while now [and is reflected by its price]. i think both/all machines have a lot left in them and they're not going away quickly, just look at how much peeps still rave about the dreamcast et al...so i'd go for it. i don't think you can loose really atm with the current deals floating around.

    buy and enjoy ;)

Well if we have a good couple of years left with the PS2, then I may as well go for the Xbox. The missus won't be too pleased, but as it's christmas....

Am I right in saying that the PS2 is now the underdog of the consoles in relation to power? The gaming quality (not gameplay) is superior with the Xbox, isn't it?

I've heard that Rockstar games are now/going to produce for the Xbox. This would be my deciding factor, as I love their games! :smashin:

Yeah, games aside, the PS2 is outperformed by both the Gamecube and the XBox. Plus, in the value-for-money category, the XBox includes a Hard Drive, ethernet port, in-game 5 channel sound, and 4 controller ports.

Halo, Project Gotham 2 and Rainbow Six 3 are the best console games I've ever played. And they're all XBox titles. Just buy one already, they rule ;)

you should buy me one instead :smashin: :D

Am undecided myself as to whether I should get one or not.

Don't no if i'd actaully get the time to play anything what with the kids and all, although the original idea was to get a dance mat for the wife and 5yr old daughter.

The wife definately would like one, so who knows, Santa may get me one yet :)

umm should i buy an xbox.

This is what i thought several months ago and deliberated over it for another few months and finally took the plunge in September and brought a chipped one with 120gb drive, now i really wish that i had got one sooner. Definitely buy one especially now as its christmas, how else better can you spend all that free time!!

Yeah, if MS really wants to catch up to Sony, they should include vouchers for 6 months "free time" with each XBox bundle. You'd be able to redeem the vouchers at your workplace, school, or hand them directly to your significant other. :D

Where are the best deals at the mo? I know I'm lazy, but if someone could just point in the right direction.... ;)

If you're a sports game fan, the Sega ESPN 2K series seems very solid. NFL2K4 is currently eating up my free time vouchers.

XBOX's are REALLY cool. I have a Gamecube but play my Dad's one. Halo is such a class game! XIII looks really cool, pity I don't have any money to buy it. XBOX is a great console with good online capability but nothing can beat the games that the Gamecube have to offer. Obviously the best Multi Player console EVER. :clown:

Yeah, the XBOX bundles are really good. But I got myself the Mario Kart Double Dash Gamecube Bundle instead and my Dad got the XBOX bundle. You get an XBOX and 4 games for £139.99. I can remember some games: Halo, Midtown Madness 3, Hitman 2 and Conflict Desert Storm. (Not the 2nd one.)
