Question Ultraportable Laptop Advice Please

Hi

I have an old ASUS X102B on its last legs. Cost me £300 in 2014, came with MS office, windows 8 and has done me well.
I use it for
  • primarily logging into work PC via web/citrix
  • I nearly always have it plugged into external monitor, keyboard & mouse via USBs and HDMI, so laptop screen size not important but ability to connect to external screen, mouse and keyboard is.
  • I travel a lot so lightweight is important
  • other non work use is general internet, some MS office stuff (light excel and word) that I can’t do on an iPad
  • I DONT use it for games (have consoles)
I have decent iPad i can use for other stuff (Netflix, email etc)
If my iPad could do proper windows stuff I don’t thing I’d need a new laptop! I don’t think a Chromebook would be ok for the remote work stuff (but not sure)

Budget is £350 to £700.
I have seen a cheap (£500) Microsoft Surface Laptop Go (12.5in 8Gb 128SSD, IntelCore i5 1035G1)
But not sure if that is enough storage (current ASUS has 500 tho my OS only uses 50 with another 130 taken up with photos I need to stick in cloud) Do I need a lot off space if I want to ‘manage’ my photos - eg delete, make albums? I usually do this on iPad/phone...

Should I buy the Microsoft surface laptop go or is there something better out there? I want another 7years out of this...

Many thanks

There is always something better. Surface is a good choice you could always get a external drive for storage. Second hand external SSD drives is one option.
