Hi everyone, I currently have an optoma hd131xe, which has served me well for the last 2 years. Unfortunately, due to being in a bedroom and me amassing more clutter, its not really practical anymore due to the long throw and clear space required, so i've been looking at short throw PJ's.

I have found one that looks ideal for me, the optoma gt5000 or gt5500, however i cant seem to find a whole lot of info about them online (other than i can get the 5000 from richer sounds for £999). Just wondering if anyone here has one of these, couldyou tell me what you think? Or is there anything with a similar throw range (100" from within 50cm) that is affordable, say up to £1500 and half decent.

One last thing, i cant see any hd131xe's in the classifieds, any idea what i should ask for mine? Approx 1200 hours used out of 6000, i was thinking ask around £300, is this a fair price or bit too much?

Thanks, I have read that thread already, I'm sure it's a good projector but I just don't really like the look of that LG one, plus it's only 1000 lumens, I use mine in the daytime a lot, so the 3000 lumen optoma might be better for me. Are these the only ones with such a short throw?

there is a bit that shows what it looks like with the lights on, remember it is led so it will not loose its brightness as fast as regular projectors ,as for other ust I cannot help sorry

I've seen that video too, thanks anyway. It looks to be only them two available in UK, if that's the case I think I'll get the optoma, I'd be tempted by the LG if it was a bit cheaper and didn't have all the tv functions

The Xiaomi Mi Laser projector is perhaps the best option if you have it available in UK

Cool.....are u in UK? Will you be hit by any customs import duty? I ve heard some people not getting any charges on items ordered from gearbest, even though shipment from China! Was thinking to order the optima gt5000 + from richersounds with their 6year guarantee, then heard of the Xiaomi projector.

I am in the US and the projector was shipped from Hong Kong via DHL. No customs import duty.
Xiaomi seems to be a better projector than Optoma GT5000+ in every regard.
