im looking to buy a camera for my girlfreind for xmas.
I have a pentax optio 4 at the moment and she loves the size of it.

they dont seem to make that any more but ive located the optio 40 at amazon for £99.

Are there any other cameras that fit this category? less than £100

the only other that i have found is the Relisys RDC 3100 which im assuming isnt very good at £39!

    thanks

you could take a look at the vivitar 3780 or benq dce30(both the same camera) this is a very very basic point and shoot 3mega pixel camera with no optical zoom 3X digital,it is very very compact and light(lighter than a mobile phone) but what impressed me was the picture quality for the price £50-£60 it's better than a lot i have seen for much more money, takes AAA batteries which you would most definately need rechargebles as it eats duracells or the like,if you want something a bit more upmarket try the casio exilim range or the canon ixus, but then your talking £150+.

Theyve been out of stock for about 2 weeks.I guess you could email them for some idea when they may get some in.

My brother owns the optio s30 the one before the s40 and picture quality is on par with my s100 but if you want ultra compact, the s100 is the one to go for.

Heres a pic i took two weeks ago and nothing was touched in the settings,it was straight out my pocket and shoot.

i have to agree with dubster, the casio's are very ultra compact and they do have great features,i have the ex-z50 at first i was'ent sure about it but now i 've had it for a few weeks i'm getting used to it,lots of picture settings for the novice and manual settings for when you get a bit more confident gives you some great photos, the battery life is phenomenal never seems to run out.

i think you can pick up the ex-100 for about £130ish,at ebuyer or amazon, not quite sure which one i seen it on,or just try a google search, look for reviews on casio cameras at steves digicams or dp previews.

    nice pic dubster. :smashin:

the casio ex-s100 is now available from argos for £119.99,as they have just dropped their prices on all their cameras, but just be careful if you buy from there as their is no 14 day money back garauntee(unless faulty) so if you do buy from there make sure you like it before you leave the shop.

you could also try www.w2w.com they also have very keen prices, with free delivery.

eg, you can get a kingston ultimate 512mb 133x high speed card from here for £33 delivery included, thats the cheapest i've seen anywhere, (if anyone knows cheaper please let me know) the trouble with ebuyer is they look like there giving you a good price then when you go to checkout they add on the VAT,and that really ****'s me off.

I might order one today and pay for the next day delivery...

Anyone know what the score with Argos is? A poster on this thread says that Argos are doing them for £119.99, and this is confirmed via Pricerunner, but for some reason the Argos site is saying £149.99?

When they say they are refurbished , what exactly do they mean?
Where have they got them from to refurbish them?
Is the outer casing scratch free and unblemished?
    Anyone received theirs yet?

The one i got was totally unmarked and as they sell them as good as new i would expect them all to be the same and dont forget youve got 7 days return if youre not happy.

Btw all the accessories are new,so i guess the camera is the only bit that gets refurbished.

The camera turned up today. I haven't had any time to try it but I have checked it over and there isn't a mark on either the body or the screen. It genuinely looks brand new
As Dubster already stated, all the accessories are new.
The only thing that might disappoint some of you is the fact that it came in a plain white box with some stickers on that state the model number, that it's been refurbished by an authorised Casio refurbishment centre and a couple of quality assured stickers. As I said earlier in this thread, this camera is a gift for my sister in law so all I have to do is take the refurb stickers off.
I'll have a chance to charge it up and try it tomorrow. Will let you know how it performs.

Yeah the packaging is a bummer.I wonder if its some sort of consumer law or something which makes manufacturers to do that??

    Can't believe I hear £22 mentioned as a price for 256MB SD card !!

I have always used mymemory. They have great prices, good delivery times and are very decent to deal with should you have to call them.

Last card I bought was a refurbished 512MB Sandisk for £17.99 (plus approx £3 p&p). 1st refurb I bought but works fine. Basically all a refurb memory card is, is one that was used in the past but wiped and then sold on. As you can imagine, this should not be a problem.

If you do not want a refurb they do brand new 512MB cards of different brands at the same price.

    Buy with confidence.

    Cheers, SOK :smashin:
Just ordered the refurbished 512MB Sandisk for £16.99 plus £3.95 postage.
Slightly off topic, does a memory card suffer any problems the more you format it?
