I realise that in order to get a digital output to play your games in Dolby Digital 5.1 you need an 'Advance-Pack. However, how is it possible to play your games through an RGB scart cable AND be able to get a digital output?

The advance pack contains an RGB scart and optical lead.
The xbox features an optical out socket I believe.
There's also a hi-def pack available in the US that contains component and an optical lead.

The flying lead out the back of the xbox has the optical socket on it. No lead supplied. The s-video one also has this socket. The standard lead that comes with the box just has composite video and stereo analogue ouput.
