I am in need of some advice :lease:

I know very little about the PSP and I am just about to buy my son a PSP for his birthday. If I buy a UK PSP can I play US games and films.

Also does anyone know if the PSP will support the 2GB and 4GB memory sticks.

    Thanks in advance.

You can play any games on any PSP as they are region free.

As for films, unfortunately they are not so if you have a UK PSP you have to buy UK films.

UK PSPs are R2. Only Jap and UK UMD films will work on R2 Jap/UK PSPs

If you buy a US PSP, you'll need to import films from US, as it is R1

The PSP supports the smaller ver of MS http://www.emartbuy.com/uk/catalog/item/miscl/itemListResult.aspx?sp_id=3&par_1=GBP&par_2=Standard&par_3=memory%20stick%20duo&par_4=

Sandisk are cheaper, but transfer data faster. Official isn't always best. The long ver of MS do not fit in the PSP. Buy off ebay for cheaper. Max at the moment is 2gb (but thats way too expensive). It'd be better to buy 2 x 512mb or 2 x 1gb

Bear in mind you can get a white one (Japanese, but you can select it in English) from Yesasia.com, free delivery and it'll be original. :) Around £170.

Anyone know what firmware a US model would come with?

I am visiting shortly and not sure whether to buy from the US or buy in the UK. Not bothered about UMD movies at all, but might be keen to get involved in the homebrew side...

Just got back from the US and the one I bought in EB had pre 1.52, not sure what it was, just know that the first game I put in had an option to upgrade firmware to 1.52.

    Hope this helps

Cool, thanks. Prices at the main stores (Circuit City etc) seem to be $250 + sales tax.... or can I do better?

Look for bundles, or pre-owned ones.
