Hey, what are the chances of the UK PSP due next week launching with firmware version 2.0 with the web browsing capabilities? Have Sony confirmed anything regarding this for the UK release? Cheers!

I just read from the www.pcpro.co.uk website that PSP release date is not 1st September.

    Is that rubbish?

I'd say that's a typo. Every major retailer still has the 1st as the release date.

I worked in GAME when the Dreamcast, PS2 and Xbox came out. They all came in the day before release.

I went in to game on saturday to see if they know which firmware version is shipping (they don't) but he showed me one of the PSPs that was in (sealed box) and that they have been arriving in stores for a few days. I hope it is 2.0 as 1.51+ can't have homebrew anyway and there is no way it will be 1.5 or earlier. The man in the shop said he had heard nothing about a web browser though.

i heard that it was 1.52 but comes with a umd with firmware 2.00 upgrade available.

i've also heard that there's a hack for 1.5x that will allow owners to downgrade to 1.50 for homebrew joy!

Got a PSP last night, it comes with 1.52 and a not in the box saying "IMPORTANT" insert the umd to upgrade when you 1st switch on. This then upgrades you to v2. Thing is you have to wait until the battery charges for a bit (about an hour) before it'll let you run the upgrade.

Waiting for games from play.com so have nothing to play but have had fun with all the avc video files i made from my dvds. Looks awesome. :)
