Couldn't find a dedicated landscape thread to post in so thought I'd create one.

If like me you are always trying to find new picturesque landscape locations in the UK this thread could help. (If people post)

    Please state picture location

I'll start with a couple from a last minute outing to Saddle Tor on Dartmoor in Devon.

It's certainly not representative of the natural colour, whilst the sun was out it was just flat light and colour.

Do you mean it looks unnatural as you know the colours are not realistic or its just over saturated even if they were accurate?

I have gone for high colour/contrast edit, im using imac 5k which is supposedly a good screen but its uncalibrated, have considered getting a spyder but unsure if they are really worth it for a hobbyist.

I'll check the pics out on some other screens when I can

Heres the same image without any colour adjustments

Much more natural looking to me - though possibly just a little underexposed maybe ?

Yes, I do tend to like a darker look as a personal preference, it is more natural looking but does it still look over saturated?

Colours are a little bright (red/green) but no more than I've actually seen at sunset in similar environments...

Taken on phone which seems to do a much better job into the sun than my dslr

Gone a bit too much the other way for me in this, somewhere in between would be better for me ;)

I'm sure there's a landscape thread somewhere tbh.

Nice shots, definitely underexposed though imo. I know you say you like them slightly darker, as do I, but I think these are too dark imho.

As for the 5k Mac screen the calibration is pretty bad straight out of the box tbh. Colours are pretty accurate but my god does it crush the blacks. Took me a few attempts at getting the calibration right, realised I had to change the gamma from its native. Stunning screen when set up though, only trouble is my other screens are a huge disappointment after using the 5k one, even though once upon a time I thought they were the bee's knees  (they are still very good to be fair, just the 5k is stunning)

Yeah can really see how good the screen is once going back to to anything else.

Do you use lightroom on yours? If so how do you find the performance, I'm using lightroom 6 cs and find it pretty slugging tbh, I've read earlier versions had issues when the 5k first came out but most report it's all fixed now and it performs very well.

No more sluggish than on any other system tbh. I do always build 1:1 previews though as that speeds up the process, trying to render a 15mp screen obviously takes more time than a 2mp one ;)

Another attempt at landscapes....I don't have a wide angle landscape lens...this was taken using my 6D and 100mm macro lens.

I thought you said you didn't have a wide angle lens? ;) First one's the best IMO.

It is, very wide :), can you get a 10mm on a full frame that isn't a fisheye?

You're getting into ultra wide angle there, 28mm is still considered wide angle by many :)

I took this last year at Cliveden House, had brilliant Autumn sun and got a number of excellent shots as a result.
