    Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knew when BT are shipping the Ultra HD Youview set top box to be manufactured by Humax ?

It seems strange that the 1st 4k broadcast will be the Community Shield on the 2nd August 2015 and there is still no release date for the set top box ? How is anyone supposed to have the pleasure of watching in UHD if they don't ship the hardware.

Yes that is strange. The box itself has been in testing for well over a year now and I know two users who have got one (beta trial testers). But still no details on price or release dates. Have you registered your interest with BT for UHD?

The Current HD Humax YouView+ 500GB is £149 I think So I reckon we will be looking around £200-250 for the YouView UHD Ultra Box time will tell.

Quidco are currently doing £180 cashback for broadband + TV + phone for infinity 2 and the £10 TV package, I'm waiting till the 25th and see what the online offer is and how much cashback is available, if it's £180 still that's the equivalent of £15 off over 12 months

New box working fine on BT Infinity1.
Have had a look at 4k rolling footage on BT sport channel and also there are some 4k video clips in the BT Player section - all sport related.
Have changed colour setting to 10 bit which my TV does seem to support.
I didn't realise that the box would upscale all channels to 4k resolution - even the menus are UHD! I have yet to have a proper watch, but first impressions are very good - currently watching Athletics on BBC3 HD and picture is superb.
    All good so far...

This is my first BT box, and though the UHD and broadcast HD looks very, very good - some of the Internet HD channels look a bit dodgy. Am I doing something wrong or does BBC iPlayer look really bad (ie nowhere near as good as Sky's BBC catchup)?

For the best picture quality on the iPlayer - Press the blue YV button> Players & Apps> BBC iPlayer> Settings> Video Quality> Best Quality.

For all Players in general - Press the blue YV button> Settings> TV Signal & Quality> On Demand Picture Quality> Best Available.

:D Well they sent me two UHD boxes, after the first failed to appear in their ordering system... but I worked out what was happening when the first box arrived so I stuck a big notice on my front door "Delivery refused - return to sender" and told BT. Seems to have worked, diversion successful!

Thanks, I had them set that way but a reboot seems to have improved things. Not sure why!

Anyone recorded anything yet on the new box and tried to skip through the recording, I cannot get it to stop skipping about a minute at a time.

Your pressing the wrong button probably. A YV remote has 2 FF & RW buttons.
Two are skip forward and rewind, two are fast forward and back, though even they incur small jumps.

Can I ask how do you know if your tv supports 10bit color, I cannot seem to find out if mine does or not?
Also how you finding sd viewing, is the picture quality improved on them?
I also have a hdmi uhd color setting on each hdmi port on my tv so wasn't certain whether they should be on also!

You can check if you TV supports 10 bit colour by pressing the Youview button on the BT UHD box remote controller, scroll across to the BT icon on the taskbar menu, press enter, scroll down to help menu, select Ultra HD, then select BT Sport Ultra HD test & read instruction & then press ok.

This test video pattern software will check three things on your TV.

    1. If you TV is HDMI 2 compliant.
    2. Your TV can show 10 bit colour.
    3. Checks for video & audio synchronization issues.

Another useful tool in the settings menu is the broadband speed checker tool.
