    Hi guys

I bought a 360 on Launch day which died and was replaced back around June/July time by GAME

They didn't give me a new reciept like they apparently have been.

Now my second one has died. There's no red lights but what happens is at random times (usually within the 1st 5 minutes) it freezez and the screen either goes blank or screnn messes up. They only thing you can do is restart the console but it then does the same.

What can i do. I only hve the 1st recipet which is now out of warrenty and they didn't give me one for the replacement one. I am NOT sending it to MS to only recieve a referb machine from them back

I cannot believe the failure rate on these machines

    Advice is appricated

    Lee

I think you will find that the second box still comes under the original reciept and therefore is out of warrenty.

I have just got my dad to have moan for me over the phone as they probably wouldn't listen to me.

Yes, they did say that it was out of warrenty, but they have told us to take it in later today and they may replace it.

    So they bloody should

If you get no luck, and have to pay for it to get repaired, Try these GUYS, prices are quite good and they have very good feedback.

Agreed Lee it should atleast last 4-5 years, It obvious the 360 has design flaws although i bet Microsoft would never admit that, Ive been lucky so far with a launch machine still going strong ( touch wood )

My brother in law has had to send two units back to MS so far but credit to them its been quite a painless process, Its going to be really interesting in the coming months how they deal with out of warrenty machines breaking down.

Whos gonna have the bottle to take them to the small claims court?

Well i got a replacement console from GAME

It was brand new as it has the drive sticker on it

Had a manufactures date of 5th October 2006.

It's slightly louder on the dash than my last console but quieter (a little) when playing games.

Are 2 consoles never the same :D

They said they would change it no problems even though it was out of warrenty, Gave a wink in thinking they were doing something they really shouldn't

Not sure if this is true but she said that the warrenty with Microsoft is now 18 months, although i don't believe that

I bought mine from GAME, and I'm having the same problem since the last update - crash after crash, it's infuriating.

Might try swapping it too then, as I think mines also past 12 months.

I had already had a replacement from them but didn't have any proof ( a receipt) and basically said that for the money i spent, that i'm not happy that keep failing. Then they said it's fine to change

You did well there mate, usually with no receipt you get shown the door.

I've found my receipt, bought in Apr 06, so I'm well within warranty. Thing is, the morons used shiny paper to print the receipt on, so most of the damn text has rubbed off!

    Nothing is ever simple :¬)

Hmm, I think I would of asked them to of written me something incase that new one was DoA, and the person who gave it to you was away next time you went in. Anyway, surely you'll get another 1 year free warranty because it's a new box, don't you just register the new one online and then call M$ once that years up and ask for an extended warranty?

I would have bought the warranty as well but to be honest its a bit of a hassle having to box it up and wait around for it to be fixed or replaced then delivered.

It would be much easier if they sent you some sort of card where you can take to a store and they can stamp/scan or whatever and get a replacement there and then.

I dont have much faith in couriers as well considering how long city link had my Wii for.

If my machine packed in again I would probably buy a core version from Currys/Comet and take out an agreement with them as long as it meant I got a replacement hassle free.

What I don't get is, M$ say you have to send it off for a repair, but you don't get your 360 back, you get a refurb back. So why can't UPS hold a stock of these refurbs (or even M$ dispatch one to UPS, once you've logged your call) and when UPS turn up to collect yours they give the refurb. Saying it's going to take 1-4 weeks to return a 360 to you is mad, when it isn't even the same that was sent out.

How about this for bad luck...5pm Christmas Eve three red lights appear on my machine...I got it from my wife last Christmas so it was literally 364 days old (she'd bought it two weeks previously)....Obviously couldn't get through to Microsoft until 27th when I did they said it was now out of warranty and I would have to pay to have it repaired.

After around half an hour argueing they finally agreed and it has now been sent off via UPS.....Not got it back yet not sure how long it ususally takes though!!!!!

i'm gonna phone MS in a minute. mine started playing up last week. No red lights, it just freezes after about a minute of playing a game.... DVD's and the HD-DVD drive work fine though

Hopefully i'll get it back next week. (fingers crossed)

    Just for Info

Regarding warranties , warrented items normally carry a 3 month warranty But if you make a paymeny ie pay £1 you are entitled to the full 12 month warranty and you get a reciept. :)
