U/G on vodafone but not via vodafone

Anyone had any wierd issues trying to upgrade with a vodafone contract?

I placed an order via dialaphone for an HD2 upgrading on my vodafone contract (well sim only 30 days rolling contract). Phone was due out for Monday, but on checking it was showing cancelled by dialaphone.

So I phone and they advised the network operator said that I wasn't due an upgrade. Off I phone to vodafone and they seem suprised, they said I can upgrade with no issues (both upgrades team and customer services), but they don't offer HD2. They think it might have been how dialaphone was trying to upgrade it.

So back I go to dialaphone and after explaining it to 3 different people I get told that I apparently can't u/g as I'm sim only. But this is contradicted by vodafone so they'll put it back through again.

Anyone had this kind of issue? Should I try someone other operator - the deal I was getting was good in terms of only being a 12month contract.

I reckon the issue may be that you are entitled to an upgrade obviously as your on a 30 day plan but dialaphone may not get the same commission for an upgrade as a new connection so cant give you that offer.

Possibly - it might not be worth it for them. The fact that they are going to put it back through suggests there should be a chance on this going through.

My backup would probably be going to virgin but that would be an 18month deal - costwise it'll be similar (rental being less) but not 100% convinced on the signal from virgin

Well looks like they cancelled it again - not gonna bother phoning their customer services to get waffle about not being able to upgrade.

Looks like I'll need to change to someone like virgin for the better deals - probably need to take 18month deal to be cheaper overall. :thumbsdow

I'll see what vodafone make of it when I request a pac code due to not being able to upgrade on their network. Maybe they'll get one from the business team and it being available .... then again it'll probably be a quick goodbye :(

Well vodafone couldn't do anything - they waffled on about a faulty processor so they pulled it from consumer but different software installed by them means it was ok for business

He then steered me to the only equivalent phone would be iphone which I mentioned I didn't like the high initial cost, long contract and generally higher monthly rental.

So he then said if I got a phone he could get my rental dropped to £17 for 600 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. He also set up to get my pac code in case I wanted to move.

So if I save the money I would have from dialaphone that's about £360 for the year plus the £30 to buy the phone - looks like I'll be as cheap buying the handset sim free
