Checked my tyres and have found my rears are starting to crack and need replacing. The fronts are good but the previous owner fitted the wrong speed rating, they should be Y and W's have been fitted. I'm a bit worried my insurance would therefore be void and I'm reluctant to contact them to ask ?

Lower speed rating can invalidate your insurance, but it doesn't mean they will force you to change if you call them.
Winter tyres are H rated, which is quite low, and many insurance companies are fine with this.
    Some charge, some don't.

As the highest speed limit in the country is 70mph, i wouldn't worry about having W rated tyres fitted. If on the other hand, you were going on the Autobahn in Germany, you might want to ensure you had the correct speed rated tyres fitted :smashin:
