Hi there,

I am looking for a big (47-50") tv to mainly play games and watch blu-rays/dvd's on. I'm looking around the £600 mark (give or take money off with quidco).

I see Dixons have the Panasonic TX-P50X10B for $599 (720p) and i have an LG 47LF7700 arriving on Wed to Richer sounds for the same price.

I'm leaning towards the LG, even though that's a good price for the Panasonic because from what i read here the X10 is not a very good example of Panasonic quality.

My couch is 9ft away from the TV, and sometimes when i game i move it to about 6ft or closer. Am i right to think that 1080p is a big deal? I will be watching Blu-rays. The room is relatively well lit the majority of the time we play games and watch TV. However when watching Blu-rays we prefer it to be dark. We currently have a 32inch LCD 720P Toshiba which i'm not that impressed with.

I am not worried so much about IR but am worried about having to burn in my TV for 200hours if i was to get a Plasma. Especially since i'd want to jump into playing my games right away.

Any thoughts? Or suggestions for a better type of Tv in the £600 or less price range?

I also considered the 50LGPQ6000 for £599 again, but then i might as well go for the Panny if i'm going to get a Plasma?
