TX-65HX800B Digital optical volume control

Novice Member
Hi all.

We have our TV paired with a Sonos playbar. On our old Sony TV you could turn off the internal speakers and still control the soundbar volume from the TV remote. When I turn the speakers off on the panasonic it just says speakers off if you try to adjust the volume. Am I missing something or do I need to change soundboard to an HDMI ARC bar?

Have you sorted your problem ?

You'd normally need HDMI-CEC enabled on both the AVR/soundbar and TV (known as 'Viera Link' on a Panasonic) in order to be able to control the AVR/soundbar volume with the TV remote, but it doesn't look like a Sonos Playbar has an HDMI connection so in order to do this with just a digital optical cable connection to your Sony TV, you presumably had to configure the playbar to work with the Sony remote at some point ? If so, you might have to follow the same set-up routine with the new TV.

Are these instructions relevant ?
