Two problems with my MBP late 2009 (previous gen.)

I have rectally had two small problems with my previous generation macbook pro.

The first is trackpad issues, it is stuck on drag like This thread and I have taken it to the apple store also and they replaced the trackpad but the problem still occurs.

The second is the screen sleep. When i close it and then open it (The screen) it will go blank after a few seconds after opening.

Any answers to these questions will be very helpful thanks

TIA

I do not shut the iMac but let it sleep. On several occasions, it would be sluggish in returning from sleep and DiskUtility/VerifyDisk would detect some "file count" issue. A RepairDisk resolves this - but either a reboot from a install disc or another bootable volume (which I do from a backup) will be needed.

Not sure if this helps, but do have a go at VerifyDisk and see what you get.
