Two inputs into 1/8" headphones

I want to be able to set up a small sound system in my computer room using simple computer speakers (with 1/8" minijack). I have two different sources with female 1/8" outputs that I would like to use the system for, but would rather not have to manually switch the wire each time I want to use a different device.

Is there an adapter that will accept two 1/8" inputs into my speakers at the same time without having to do any switching?

I still have not found any information on this - any ideas?

Thank you!

Yes there is a simple two to one adaptor available from Maplins but this would only allow you to have one output " live" at any given time otherwise you will end up with a horrible jumble of the two at once.
Have you already purchased the speakers ? if not take a look at the Bose computer ones at about £80 they have two inputs and allow switching from A to B at the speaker.

Do you have any idea what the adapter is called? I am having trouble finding it on the site.

I only plan on using them one at a time, so overlap is not an issue, I would just rather not have to change the hardware setup. I have already bought the speakers (Logitech Z-2300, highly suggest them!).

Thanks for all your help.

Take a look at these 3 catalogue numbers on the Maplin site. I have used all of them and the last one seems to be the most secure.

Unfortunately, that is not what I am looking for. Those adapters will allow me to plug one device into two separate speaker systems.

I need an adapter that has two male 1/8" plugs to plug into the audio devices and has one female 1/8" plug to connect the speaker system. Think of trying to play two iPods through a single set of headphones.

Thanks for all your effort!

OK gotcha, you want the same device but the other way around ie 2 male to 1 female. I can't see any available without spending more time although I am sure they must be about. The Maplin one is two way and would still work though by using converters ie male to male & female to female.

Thank you for looking, if you come across one, please throw up a post.

Thanks for your help!

After much searching I have come to the conclusion that apart from having one of these specially made then there is no such beast. As stated before the other way to go is to get the Maplin item L37BA
plus 2 of these L29BA and one of these N29AP
