Two audio leads into one socket?

Hi All,

I`ve purchased an XBOX 360. In order to get it into HD mode I had to purchase a VGA cable which I now have.

The picture is now great, but the only problem I have is that my TV (at http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?quicklinx=3LD0&v=1) only has one Audio in port. I did have a Sky HD audio in lead going into it and I`ve had to unplug that to put the XBOX one in.

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a splitter so I could have my Sky HD Audio Lead and the XBOX Audio Lead going into the same connection on the TV?

I`ve looked on the Maplins website but being honest I had no idea what I was looking for.

Thanks,

Keith

What audio input are you using from the SKY HD box? Is it a two phono to 3.5mm stereo jack? Or is it an HDMI to DVI and 3.5mm stereo jack?

Either way I'm assuming that you have a single 3.5mm stereo jack input on the back of the ACER that is used for both the DVI input (from HD box HDMI) and the PC (VGA) input to provide sound.

You could purchase the following from Maplins although its meant for splitting 3.5mm jack outputs rather than combining inputs:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1221&FAQS=Y&doy=25m7
or
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1214&criteria=Jack Adaptors&doy=25m7

If you do this you'd need to turn the XBOX off while watching SKY and vice versa or you would get combined sound input.

Thanks alot for the reply.

The Sky HD is plugged into a DVI port via a HDMI converter (so the Sky Installer said).

The audio lead is going from the back of the Sky HD box into the audio in socket on TV. I`m not sure if it`s a 3.5mm stereo jack though as it`s a small thin connector on the end?

The TV does use the same audio port for both the HD Box and the VGA input to provide sound.

Assuming it is a stereo jack then the options you said at Maplins would work. I`ll pop down to my local store later today and have a look.

Thanks again,

Keith

Does the audio cable from the back of the SKY box come from the two phono (red and white) connectors? If it is then your TV end probably is a 3.5mm stereo jack.

You may be better off connecting the audio of your xbox and HD box to aux inputs on a HiFi system if you have one. Although the Acer LCD screen has speakers they wont really do the audio any justice.
