I am looking to connect two amps (Primare A30.1 for hifi, Denon AVC-A1SE for home cinema) to one pair of front speakers.

Can anyone recommend a suitable switch?

QED make one (MA19) but don't know what the quality is like.

    Cheers
    Rob.

Has the denon got pre out sockets? If so no need for a switch box.

    Mylo,

    Thanks for response.

That is how I use my current Denon 3801 - front preout into the Primare. But when I get the A1SE I want to use the two independently so that I have uniform amplification on all channels and also so that I don't need to have the primare on all the time.

    Cheers
    Rob.

If you really want to do that it would have better sound quality buying another set of front speakers. And amp selection switch will detiorate sound quality.

Either use the pre-outs from the Denon to the Primare, or 2nd pair of speakers.

Or dump the Denon and buy into Primare AV kit which is much better these days.

Just out of interest, how do you find the A30.1? I ask as I'm pondering incorporating one into my rig for the hifi side of things, maybe.

I was always told the less hardware a signal has to pass through the purer it will be when it leaves the speakers. As a result i have a less pragmatic solution. I have 2 pairs of terminated cables - one from the AV amp to the front speakers and another pair from the HiFi amp to the spekers. The pair of cables I plug into the spekers is dependent on the source of the sound. It does take about 30 secs to swap them over but what the hell!!
